Although the following fake viruses may seem malicious to the unsuspecting, they are non-destructive to your computer system. So you don’t need to worry about anything else and just enjoy the fun of making someone else panic.

1. Fake Virus Batch File - I got this prank from WikiHow so credit goes to them. I love this fake virus because it looks the most like an actual attack. Copy and paste the following into Notepad, then save the file with any name you choose and an extension of “.bat”

2. Fake Format - I remember getting my cousin once with a similar program. This cool fake virus perfectly simulates the Windows disk-format dialog, and cannot be closed or halted until it completes its course. Once it’s done, a message will be displayed informing the user that it was just a joke.
3. Fake Delete - This one is my favorite because, i love its formatting counterpart, Fake Delete mimics the Windows file-delete dialogs. It even goes as far as using your actual file list instead of generic filenames! This also has the “it-was-all-a-joke” screen after it’s done running.Doesn't matter your friend click yes or no, fake delete will start deleting all the files.
When executing these pranks, please be considerate to whether your intended victim is mildly-panicky or really panicky, and whether your mark has some kind of panic disorder or heart problem. It’s all fun and games until someone goes to the hospital. Otherwise, have fun!

The first jailbreak application for the iPhone 3GS has been released by premier iPhone hacker George Hotz. Yes by the same guy who you may remember unlocked the first iPhone too.

The software is named “purplera1n,” and it is availabe for windows only, not Mac, and not Windows 7. Hotz says a jailbreak for Mac is “coming shortly.” Hotz’s application requires an iPhone 3GS running the 3.0 OS, and the latest version of iTunes — 8.2. Once the hack is applied, your 3GS will become unlocked, but you will still be tied to your carrier.

The unlocking tool is in beta version so please make sure that you have backed up all your important data before attempting this jailbreak. Hotz has released his purplera1n solution because the iPhone Dev Team have decided to wait. In his blog post Hotz says:

Normally I don’t make tools for the general public, and rather wait for the dev team to do it. But guys, whats up with waiting until 3.1? That isn’t how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes.

US Army web servers were compromised on at least two occasions, with the hackers redirecting visitors to sites with anti-US, anti-Israel and climate-change content, according to documents obtained by InformationWeek.

The Department of Defense has not publicly admitted the breaches, but leaked documents from an internal investigation indicate that servers belonging to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Transatlantic Center in Virginia and the McAlester Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma, were both compromised by a Turkish hacking group called “mosted”. The McAlester attack came on January 26 of this year, whereas the previous attack occurred back in 2007.

In both cases, users were redirected to a 3rd party site, on one occasion displaying climate-change material and on the other displaying images and text of an anti-US and anti-Israeli nature. It’s not clear whether any sensitive information was stolen in the attacks, which appear to be more about humiliating the US Army webmasters and political point-scoring on the part of the hackers. The group apparently used SQL injection techniques to gain access to the servers and are known to have used a similar exploit in the past to hijack a site run by security and anti-virus firm Kaspersky Lab.

The attack is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation and search warrants have been served against ISPs as well as Yahoo, Google, and Microsoft in a concerted effort by the US Government to track down and punish those responsible. For hackers to have infiltrated supposedly high-security military servers in this way has likely proved both highly embarrassing, not to mention deeply troubling for those in charge.

SymbianOS Series60 devices (Nokia 6600, 7610/6670 and all other latest Nokia phones, Siemens SX1, Panasonic X800 etc.) and Nokia 7710:

Make sure the battery level is above 75%. Enter *#7370# at the stand-by screen and you will be asked for a confirmation and you will have to enter a security code (12345 by default).

There is another method to format a Series60 phone. You may try this when you forget your security code. Switch off your phone and remove the Memory Card. Press and hold the three keys - Green (dial) key, * (Star) key, and the number 3 key on the keypad and then press the Power ON/OFF button to switch the phone. Hold the three keys until the Formatting screen is seen.

SymbianOS Series80 devices (Nokia 9500, 9300 communicator phones):

Remove and re-insert the battery. When you see the Nokia logo at the PDA display, simultaneously press and hold down Control (Ctrl) + Shift (the one with the UP arrow) + F keys until you’ll be prompted whether or not to proceed with format. If you don’t see the format menu, remove and re-insert the battery and try again. If the Communicator display remains black after inserting the battery, press the power button on the phone side while keeping the cover open. After formatting, the device reboots itself. If the display remains white after reboot, press the power button on the phone side while keeping the cover open.

Sony Ericsson P800/900/910i (Should work on the latest phones as well):

Make sure the flip is closed when you do this. You need to use the jog wheel to proceed with the format. Move the jog UP once, press * key, move the jog DOWN twice, press * key, move the jog DOWN once, and press * key. This takes you to the service menu and you can reset your phone from this menu.

Dell Axim X3 / X3i / X30:

To hard reset, press and hold the power button and press in on the reset button (reset hole) on the back of the unit for about 2-5 seconds. Release both buttons and you will see a confirmation screen asking you if you would like to clear all data in memory. To do so press the Contacts button.

Dell Axim x50 / x50v / x51 / x51v:

Make sure the device is on before performing hard reset. To hard reset, press and hold the power button and press in on the reset button (reset hole) on the back of the unit for about 2-3 seconds. Release both buttons and you will see a confirmation screen asking you if you would like to clear all data in memory. To do so press the Contacts button. To cancel press the Mail button.

HTC Apache, Sprint PPC-6700, Verizon XV6700:

While holding both soft keys (buttons with “-“on them), push in on the reset button once. Make sure you are still holding onto the soft keys. A confirmation screen should appear asking you if you want to reset all data. Press Y to reset, N to cancel.

HTC Wizard, i-mate K-JAM:

While holding the Comm manager button and the Voice Command button, push in on the soft reset button (reset hole) once. Keep holding the Comm Manager and Voice Command buttons until there is a screen asking you if you want to clear all data. To commit, press the green send key.

HP iPAQ h1900 Series (1910 / 1915 / 1930 / 1935 / 1940 / 1945) and HP iPAQ h6300 Series (6310 / 6315):

While holding down the power button press in on the reset button (reset hole) with your stylus (located on the left hand edge of the unit rather than the bottom) for about 5 seconds.

HP iPAQ h2000 Series (2210 / 2215):

While holding down on the far left (calendar) and far right (iTask), press in on the reset button on the back of the unit for about 5 seconds. After you see the screen fade, release all buttons. You can verify the hard reset by pressing the power button. If the device does not power on, then you have successfully reset you unit. To reactivate the battery you must either connect the iPAQ back to AC power or press the reset button again with your stylus.

HP iPAQ h5000 Series (5450 / 5550 / 5555) and HP iPAQ h3800 Series (3830 / 3835 / 3850 / 3855 / 3870 / 3875):

While holding down on the far left (calendar) and far right (iTask or Today) press in on the reset button (reset hole) with your stylus for about 2-3 seconds. After you see the screen fade, you can verify the hard reset by pressing the power button. If the device does not power on, then you have successfully reset you unit. To reactivate the battery you must either connect the iPAQ back to AC power or press the reset button again with your stylus.

HP iPAQ hw6500 Mobile Messenger Series (6510 / 6515), iPAQ hx2000 Series (2415 / 2715) and HP iPAQ hx4700 / hx4705:

While holding down on the far left (calendar) and far right (iTask) press in on the reset button (reset hole) with your stylus for about 2-3 seconds. The Pocket PC should reset and power back on. If the device does not power back on, make sure that the battery lock switch is to the left (locked).

HP iPAQ rx3115 / rx3715:

While holding down on the far left (Mobile Media) and far right (iTask) press in on the reset button (reset hole) with your stylus for about 2-3 seconds.

HP iPAQ rz1700 Series (1710 / 1715):

While holding the far left (Mobile Media) and far right (Today) buttons, press in on the reset button (reset hole) on the bottom for about 2-3 seconds. To verify that you have hard reset you device, press the power button. If the device does not turn on then you have successfully hard reset you device. To reactivate the PDA, either connect the device to the AC adapter or press in on the reset button.

Palm Treo 700w:

Make sure that the Treo isn’t connected to AC power. To perform a hard reset press and hold the Power/End button. While holding the Power/End button press in and release the reset button. When you see the confirmation screen asking you if you want to erase all data, you can release the Power/End button and press the up button on the directional pad to confirm the hard reset.

Toshiba e310 / e330/ e335 / e350 / e355 / e400 / e405 / e570 / e740 / e750 / e755 / e800 / e805:

Make sure your device is off before performing hard reset. While holding the power button press in on the reset switch with your stylus then release the power button. When a screen appears release the reset switch.

Motorola MPX200:

Press and Hold the blue action key and power key at the same time for longer and you will see a menu asking if you want to do a hard reset.

Pakistani Hackers (reportedly settled in Saudi Arabia) today put down Google’s search page (http://www.google.com.ma) specialized for Morocco.

Domain name remained down for many hours, while people got enough chance to record plenty of screenshots here and here.

TechCrunch says that there’s a bit of confusion about how the hack was performed exactly, but it appears as if the hackers found a way into NIC.ma , which controls the DNS for the country, and targeted the Google domain name especially. The domain was pointed to a different server, and the web page above was shown when people tried to access the search engine. Google apparently at one point automatically relayed visitors from Morocco to Google.com instead of Google.co.ma, but it took a while to get the latter functioning correctly again.

A tool that automatically steals IDs of non-encrypted sessions and breaks into Google Mail accounts has been presented at the Defcon hackers’ conference in Las Vegas.

Last week Google introduced a new feature in Gmail that allows users to permanently switch on SSL and use it for every action involving Gmail, and not only, authentication. Users who did not turn it on now have a serious reason to do so as Mike Perry, the reverse engineer from San Francisco who developed the tool is planning to release it in two weeks.

When you log in to Gmail the website sends a cookie (a text file) containing your session ID to the browser. This file makes it possible for the website to know that you are authenticated and keep you logged in for two weeks, unless you manually hit the sign out button. When you hit sign out this cookie is cleared.

Even though when you log in, Gmail forces the authentication over SSL (Secure Socket Layer), you are not secure because it reverts back to a regular unencrypted connection after the authentication is done. According to Google this behavior was chosen because of low-bandwidth users, as SLL connections are slower.

The problem lies with the fact that every time you access anything on Gmail, even an image, your browser also sends your cookie to the website. This makes it possible for an attacker sniffing traffic on the network to insert an image served from http://mail.google.com and force your browser to send the cookie file, thus getting your session ID. Once this happens the attacker can log in to the account without the need of a password. People checking their e-mail from public wireless hotspots are obviously more likely to get attacked than the ones using secure wired networks. Todd Mumford, from the SEO company called SEO Visions Inc, states “This can be a serious problem for Internet Marketers who travel often and use their wireless laptops and Gmal services often and do not always have access to a secure connection”

Perry mentioned that he notified Google about this situation over a year ago and even though eventually it made this option available, he is not happy with the lack of information. “Google did not explain why using this new feature was so important” he said. He continued and explained the implications of not informing the users, “This gives people who routinely log in to Gmail beginning with an https:// session a false sense of security, because they think they’re secure but they’re really not.”

If you are logging in to your Gmail account from different locations and you would like to benefit from this option only when you are using unsecured networks, you can force it by manually typing https://mail.google.com before you log in. This will access the SSL version of Gmail and it will be persistent over your entire session and not only during authentication.

If you log into a limited account on your target machine and open up a dos promptthen enter this set of commands Exactly:

Now what you have just done is told the computer to backup the command programand the screen saver file, then edits the settings so when the machine boots thescreen saver you will get an unprotected dos prompt with out logging into XP.
Once this happens if you enter this command minus the quotes

"net user password"
If the Administrator Account is called Frank and you want the password blah enter this
"net user Frank blah"
and this changes the password on franks machine to blah and your in.
