When you are downloading any program or file from the internet, for example any antivirus program or an email attachment from your friends. Here you will get a dialog box with three options to Run, Save or Cancel. Basically this is confirmation from a user "Do you want to run or save this file", even you can cancel it to abort the downloading.
Here if you select the Run option, only the setup file is downloaded as temp file in your computer temporary internet folder and your computer run this program setup automatically without your confirmation or virus scanning. This is unsafe for your computer if you are downloading this program from any new or unknown source.
But if you select other option Save, You can save this program on your computer in any location. Now you have the full source of program on your computer, you can scan the all program before open it.
Normally you should select the Save option, if you are downloading this program from any free software sites. You have extra security layer if you save the setup file before run it.
You can set your Num Lock to stay on by default when you logon your system.
There are two different techniques to set Num Lock stay on by default.
If you can use Registry Editor correctly then Click on start button and type Regedt32.exe in Run command. Here Navigate to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard and change the value for InitialKeyboardIndicators from 0 to 2.
You can do same by configuring the script to change the NUM LOCK state. Click Start button and then open Notepad. Copy the giving code and paste in Notepad.

Now save this file with name "num.vbs" must including the quotes. At the end copy this file to user startup folder. The path for this folder is Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.
Now restart the computer. Num Lock should come on and stay on.
When you are browsing your favorite websites using dial-up internet connection, your incoming calls can create problem with your modem if the call waiting option in your modem sittings is enable. Your modem may be hangs up and disconnects the internet connection frequently. Normally when you disabled the call waiting option in your modem sitting and any body tries to call you, he will get the busy beep during internet connected. You should always disable the call waiting option to avoid modem disconnectivity or hangs up.
To disable the call waiting option, first click on Start button, then Network Connections.
Here double click on your internet connection and click on Properties button then General.
Under General tab select Use Dialing Rules box then click on dialing rules button.
Here select My Location then click on Edit button. Under General tab select the option To
disable call waiting dial and put any number in next box like *32.
At the end click on Ok button and dial your connection again.
Many web browsers like Mozilla Firefox but now Internet Explorer 7.0 also allow you to set the multiple home pages. You can open all home pages at the same time; this is great option to open your favorite websites with a single click. But you have option to set single home page according to your need.
Follow the given steps to set multiple home pages in Internet Explorer.
First open the Internet Explorer 7 and go to the option Tools then click on Internet Options.
Select the General tab, here you will get option "To create home page tabs, type each address on its own line" and type the URL in the Home page section.
Type one URL in one line then press Enter to type another URL. Press Ok to finish.
If you want to get some information about any topic using search engine, the search engine will search the given information and will provide a list of links of websites along brief description about each website. You should use the right search terms for relevant results.
The following points must be noted to search the information on the internet.
You can type all word in lowercase and also in uppercase, search engine will return the same result. But the best practice is type search keywords always in lowercase.
Use + sign between words if you want to search the all words. For example, to search history of Football in Europe, type as:
history+Football+Europe
To search the exact match, write the words in double quotation marks. For example to search the map of Europe, then type as:
"Map of Europe"
Always avoid to use "and", "or" with search keywords, because these words will affect the search result.
Sometime you are browsing the internet and trying to open any website, your e-mail and any FTP sites , but you see different error codes there. You should be familiar with these error codes. You can solve these problems if you are well-known with the meaning of error codes.
400 = This is bad request error, First check you may be typing wrong URL name and server could not understand your request.
401 = You are trying to open any unauthorized access site or page. Check your username and password if you are trying to open any webpage.
402 = Payment Required Error
403 = You are trying to open any forbidden page and you are blocked by that domain.
404 = Here you are trying to open the webpage that was removed or re-named, also check the URL spelling.
408 = This is time out error. you should send the request with in time that the server set for you.

Yahoo has been in business for a long time now and is a leading email service provider and hosts a search engine. Yahoo is been in business before Google but it seems that Yahoo progresses slow compared to Google, MSN, Ask and Aol.
Yes, I am talking about the search engine security development. Recently Mcafee’s Site Advisor conducted a test for malicious pages present over the internet and targeted the most 5 popular search technologies: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask.com and Aol. The malicious pages were discovered in all 5-search engines that are representing 93 percent of all search use according to McAfee.
Now the shocking part; Yahoo hosted the most number of malicious results with 3.6 percent of them containing adware and other threats while Google has only 1.9 percent while AOL is the cleanest search engine with 1.4 percent.
Since the previous security test in May 2006, most of the search engines including Google, Ask.com and Aol showed improvement while MSN and Yahoo security worsened.
Aol is rated the safest search engine as it showed only 2.9% of malicious result, while Ask.com showed the greatest improvement in the security from 6.1% from the last year to 3.5% in May 2007 and Google too improved its security 5.3% in May 2006 to 3.4% in May 2007. Yahoo returns the highest percentage of risky sites with 5.4% of results being harmful up from 4.3% from the last year.
So Aol receives the first rank among the safest search engines, while Google retain second followed by Ask.com, which showed a great improvement in the past year.
Gmail has been my favorite email service provider, although there are many email service provider but I love Gmail’s simplicity and fast response to user’s command. Although Gmail does not allow attaching HTML signature but today I would share an interesting tweak with you guys on how you can add a HTML Email signature to Gmail with the help of Grease Monkey and firefox.
Greasemonkey is a plugin for Firefox which helps you to change how your favourite pages look and behave. By installing Greasemonkey to firefox and adding the appropriate script, you can rule any web page you want =d.After installing the Greasemonkey script, download the Gmail Signature Float script. By this script you can modify Gmail in three different ways:
1. It moves your signature from the bottom of the message to the top of the quoted message.
2. It will also remove the two stripes which Gmail forces above the signature.
3. And the most important of all it allow you to add HTML to your signature. You can also turn it on and off “floating” of signature.

Most of you guys have forwarded your emails from other email services to gmail for convenience purpose, but did you know that you can reply from the gmail account with the email address you forwarded your email. You can display anther email address in the “From:” field instead of your gmail address.
- First Log in to your Gmail account on which you wish to add another address.
- Click “Settings” on the top of the page.
- Then select the “Account” tab and then click “Add another email address” in the “Send mail as:” section.
- Now add your Name and the email address you wish to add to gmail. You can specify a different email address for “reply-to” address if you’d like email replies to be delivered to other email account, such as Gmail.
- When done with the above step, click next and then click Send Verification to complete the process. Then Gmail will send a verification message to email address you typed in to verify that the account is yours and you would like to add it to gmail.
- Then open the email inbox of the email address you wished to add and click the link in the verification email sent by gmail or copy paste the verification code to gmail to confirm your request.
- When done with all the steps you are can customize your email address in the “From:” field whenever you want to compose an email.
This has really helped me cause i had to use 2 accounts and now i can use 2 account of my gmail. Hope it helps you guys too….
Well, i found out this really really funny and unbelievable technique to recover your Dead(Unreadable) CDs. Most of you guys would not stop laughing after reading this.
Well the technique is to “boil” your CDs, to make them live again! do you believe it? I didn’t believed this too until i tried it on one of my CD and it really work :D, now believe that!
This also applies to DVD’s too, most of the time water molecule get trapped in the plastic covering which is meant to protect to the readable surface and sometimes it freezes to form a layer and those CD’s become unreadable and the only way to make them work is to boil them…
Now keep in mind that you are not to make a soup of CD! you just need enough water to cover the disk and place the water ball (WITHOUT THE DISK) into the microwave for 60 seconds. AND if you put you put a disk in the microwave, you will see a free fireworks display with over cooked disk! so DONT!
Now when the water is warm, place the disk in the warm water ball for 30 to 40 seconds, using a paper towel or any tool, dont grab it with your finger, it hurts really bad, i’ve tried it
The reason this process works is because the small elastomeric film on the disk is forced to expand, thus fixing the disk.

Yes, it is perfectly possible to change the text on your little start button to anything that please you :D, before i go on to the HOWS i will show you the proof which confirms the fact that it is possible:
Ok now that we’ve done that lets move on to the fun and juicy stuff.. this may seem a little complicated though.
Ok i’m sure not all of you know this but the start button is located in the “explorer.exe” file so we will be playing around with it. It is advised that you make a back up.. so make a BACKUP!
Ok since explorer.exe is in binary we will be needing a resource editor, and im sure we all can manage that, click >>>> HERE <<<<>
Once you’ve downloaded resource hacker open it up and navigate yourself to C:/Windows/explorer.exe. You see in explorer.exe “start” is saved as a string so click the “String Table” tree, go down to number 37, click 1033 and you should find “Start” written on line number 578. Change “start” to whatever you please, like we change it to “SMART”. Once your done compile it and Save it as another file, something like “editedexplorer.exe”.
Ok so now you have to tell your windows to run editedexplorer.exe instead of the original explorer.exe, too bad the computer doesnt come with ears eh? We have to edit the register since our computers dont have ears. So open:
Start >> Run, type Regedit and run it.
Ok, for those of you who have no idea what the registery is or what does it do, i suggest you make a backup, its easy just right click my computer (in regedit) and click export. It’ll take a little time but hey, if you make one wrong move its good bye windows.
Ok when your done, its time to edit your registry. In the left tab click
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Microsoft >> Windows NT >> Current Version >> Winlogon.
Once you’re there look for a file named shell, open it and change the value data to whatever you named your .exe file, in our case editedexplorer.exe.
Now just restart your pc and your startup should say whatever you wanted it to.
Note: You have to save your editedexplorer.exe in the Windows folder and if you want to change your startup back to normal just change the value of shell to explorer.exe (your default).
